Da Nang’s nightlife is more developed than most Vietnamese cities its size — driven by the domestic beach resort market and a growing international tourist base. The Dragon Bridge fire show is the most distinctive evening event; beach bars and Han River rooftop bars provide the standard evening options.

Dragon Bridge fire and water show

Every Saturday and Sunday at 21:00, the Dragon Bridge’s head breathes fire and sprays water for approximately 15 minutes. The spectator area on the east bank fills up from about 20:30. The show is genuinely impressive for the first viewing — the dragon-shaped bridge structure and the pyrotechnics are a legitimate spectacle.

Where to watch: The east bank of the Han River near the Dragon Bridge end. Free. Get there 20–30 minutes early on weekends.

Han River waterfront bars and restaurants

Bach Dang Street running along the west bank of the Han River has a continuous strip of restaurants and bars with river views. The illuminated bridges (Dragon Bridge, Han River Swing Bridge, Rong Bridge) are visible from this strip. Best for a pre-dinner drink and dinner.

Sky Bar at Novotel: One of the better rooftop bars in the city — views over the river and the coast. ₫80,000–150,000 ($3.20–6) per drink.

My Khe Beach bars

The beach strip has several open-air beach bars operating until midnight–02:00 on weekends. The atmosphere is relaxed and beach-casual — sun loungers moved off the sand for night seating, fire shows at some venues, live music occasionally.

Waterfront Da Nang: One of the better beach bar options with consistently good atmosphere. ₫60,000–120,000 ($2.40–4.80) per drink.

Club scene

Da Nang has a small club scene, primarily serving Vietnamese domestic tourists and expats. The clubs are not world-class but functional:

New Phuong Dong Club: Large Vietnamese-style disco. Local crowd, good energy on weekends. Popular with Vietnamese weekenders from Hanoi and HCMC.

Gold Club: More international-oriented. The main expat and backpacker club option.

Both are on or near the beach strip.

Practical notes

Da Nang’s nightlife is concentrated on weekends — the city is quieter on weekday evenings than it is on Fridays and Saturdays. The beachfront scene is most active in summer (May–August).

Beer prices: ₫30,000–60,000 ($1.20–2.40) at standard bars. Cocktails: ₫80,000–150,000 ($3.20–6). The price gap between local Vietnamese-oriented bars and the tourist-facing beach bars is significant.

Getting back from the beach bar strip to city centre hotels: Grab is consistently available throughout the night.
