How to use it: Exit the arrivals hall and follow signs or ask staff for the ride-hailing pickup area. It’s positioned outside the main exit. Open Grab, set your destination, and wait - availability in Da Nang is good throughout the day, though supply thins late at night.

GrabBike: If you’re travelling light, a motorbike ride through Grab costs 40,000–70,000 VND to the city. Da Nang’s roads are wide and well-maintained, making this a reasonable option in good weather.

Option 2: Metered Taxis

Da Nang has a smaller, calmer taxi ecosystem than Hanoi or HCMC, but the same principles apply: stick to known companies.

Recommended operators: Vinasun, Mai Linh, Tien Sa Taxi, and Quang Nam Taxi are the most commonly cited reliable options. All use meters.

Cost as of 2026: approximately 70,000–130,000 VND to central Da Nang or the beachfront strip. The short distances mean most fares stay reasonable.

Where to find them: Official taxis queue outside the arrivals exit. A dispatcher manages the queue - use it. Drivers who approach you inside the terminal or in the car park should be declined.

To Hoi An by metered taxi: Expect approximately 250,000–400,000 VND. It’s worth agreeing a fixed price before departure for longer routes - ask for “giá cố định” (fixed price). Compare what you’re quoted against the Grab estimate before committing.

Option 3: Private Transfer (Pre-Booked)

For those heading directly to Hoi An, a pre-booked private transfer is often the most practical option. It eliminates the need to negotiate, and the driver will often wait in the arrivals hall with a name board.

Getting to Hoi An from Da Nang Airport

There is no direct bus service from Da Nang Airport to Hoi An. Your realistic options are:

1. Pre-booked private transfer (recommended): 300,000–450,000 VND, 40–55 minutes. Book a private Da Nang to Hoi An transfer on Klook or arrange via your Hoi An hotel.
2. Grab to Da Nang then bus: Take a Grab to the Da Nang bus station (around 80,000 VND), then the Da Nang–Hoi An yellow bus (Route 1, around 25,000 VND, 60–80 minutes). Slower but cheap.

Getting to Hue from Da Nang Airport

The road from Da Nang to Hue crosses the Hai Van Pass - one of the most dramatic coastal drives in Vietnam. A private transfer takes approximately 2–2.5 hours and costs around 800,000–1,200,000 VND for a sedan. Train is an alternative from Da Nang city’s main station (around 15–30 km from the airport), with tickets from approximately 80,000–200,000 VND and journey time of 2–3 hours.

Scam Awareness

Da Nang’s taxi situation is noticeably less chaotic than Hanoi or HCMC, but a few common issues remain:

• Unmarked vehicles: Drivers without official taxi markings who offer fixed rates - often 2–3x the metered cost. Politely decline.
• Round routes to Hoi An: Some drivers take a longer route to inflate the fare. If you’re heading to Hoi An, cross-reference travel time via Google Maps before departure.
• “My meter is broken”: Same script as elsewhere. Get a different taxi or use Grab.
• Surge pricing at peak times: Da Nang is extremely popular from May to August (beach season) and around major Vietnamese holidays. Book private transfers in advance during these periods.

Returning to the Airport

Da Nang’s central location means return transfers are simple. Grab from the beach strip to the airport typically takes 15–20 minutes and costs 80,000–130,000 VND. Allow 90 minutes before your flight if departing during morning or evening peak hours.

If you’re returning from Hoi An, a pre-booked private transfer is the most reliable option - allow at least 60 minutes travel time from central Hoi An to account for any delays.
