Best Hostels in Da Nang 2026: Budget Stays Near the Beach

Accommodation, Da Nang

Da Nang’s hostel scene is less backpacker-dense than Hoi An or Hanoi but has strong options, particularly in the An Thuong area near My Khe Beach. The city’s central location between Hoi An (30 minutes south) and Hue (2.5 hours north) makes it a good base for exploring central Vietnam on a budget.

Best hostels

Memory Hostel (An Thuong, near My Khe Beach): Well-rated backpacker hostel in the An Thuong area, approximately 5 minutes walk from My Khe Beach. Clean dorms with individual curtains, reading lights, and power outlets at each bed. The common area has a bar, pool table, and regular social events. Staff know the city well and can arrange Marble Mountains and Hoi An day trips. Breakfast included in the dorm rate. Dorm beds from ₫180,000 ($7.20). Private rooms from ₫450,000 ($18) as of 2026.

Panorama Hostel (city centre, near Han River): City centre location near the Han River with a rooftop bar that has direct views of the Dragon Bridge — a good spot for the Saturday and Sunday night fire shows at 21:00. Better for the city experience than beach access. Clean dorms, reliable wifi, and air conditioning throughout. Dorm from ₫200,000 ($8). Private from ₫500,000 ($20) as of 2026.

Da Nang Backpackers 1 (An Thuong area): One of the original backpacker hostels in the city, established before Da Nang’s tourism boom. Standard budget facilities with a reliable tour desk that arranges Hoi An day trips (approximately ₫150,000 / $6 for transport), Marble Mountains excursions, and Ba Na Hills group bookings. Communal kitchen available. Dorm from ₫180,000 ($7.20) as of 2026.

Bunk Hostel (An Thuong, near beach): Beach-area hostel with the standard social infrastructure — common room with Netflix, bar with happy hour from 17:00–19:00, and organised group activities including beach volleyball and surf sessions. The dorms use pod-style bunks with better sound isolation than open dorms. Dorm from ₫200,000 ($8). Private from ₫500,000 ($20) as of 2026.

The owner speaks good English and provides detailed local recommendations. Dorm from ₫160,000 ($6.40). Private from ₫400,000 ($16) as of 2026.

An Thuong area — the backpacker zone

The An Thuong area (sometimes called “Western Street” by expats) near My Khe Beach is the main backpacker and digital nomad zone. The streets have a concentration of international restaurants, cafes with wifi, convenience stores, and budget accommodation. My Khe Beach is 5–15 minutes walk from most An Thuong hostels.

The area is well connected by Grab to the city centre (approximately ₫30,000–50,000 / $1.20–2 by Grab car, 10–15 minutes) and to Hoi An (approximately ₫150,000–200,000 / $6–8 by Grab car, 30 minutes).

Budget alternatives to hostels

Da Nang has many budget guesthouses with private rooms in the ₫250,000–400,000 ($10–16) range — clean rooms with air conditioning and en-suite bathrooms. If you prefer privacy over the dorm social experience, these represent excellent value.

The streets one block back from the main An Thuong hotel strip have significantly lower prices for the same beach proximity. Family-run guesthouses on these back streets are often newer and better maintained than their prices suggest, as they compete with the hostels for budget travellers.

For stays of one week or more, short-term apartment rentals through local agencies or social media groups start from approximately ₫5,000,000–8,000,000 ($200–320) per month for a studio with kitchen, wifi, and air conditioning.
