Hue has one of the best value hotel markets in Vietnam. The imperial city’s status means there’s a genuine range from boutique colonial properties down to well-run backpacker guesthouses.

Luxury (₫2,000,000+ / $80+)

La Residence Hotel & Spa: The standout luxury property in Hue. A 1930s French Résidence building on the south bank of the Perfume River — the original Governor’s residence converted to a hotel. Art Deco architecture, pool, excellent restaurant, and river views. ₫3,500,000–8,000,000 ($140–320). Genuinely special for the right budget.

Pilgrimage Village Boutique Resort: Bamboo and timber resort in a garden setting 2km from the city centre. Good pool and spa. A better resort experience than urban hotel. ₫2,000,000–4,500,000 ($80–180).

Mid-range (₫700,000–2,000,000 / $28–80)

Moonlight Hotel: Central south bank location with clean, comfortable rooms. Good breakfast, friendly staff. ₫800,000–1,500,000 ($32–60).

Canary Boutique Hotel: Well-reviewed boutique option near the river. Good wifi, bicycle rental, attentive service. ₫700,000–1,200,000 ($28–48).

Villa Louise: French colonial villa converted to a guesthouse in a quiet south bank street. Atmospheric choice for the price. ₫900,000–1,800,000 ($36–72).

Budget (₫200,000–700,000 / $8–28)

Hue Backpackers Hostel: The main backpacker hostel in the city with dorm beds and cheap private rooms. Social atmosphere, tour booking, night market proximity. Dorm from ₫150,000 ($6). Private rooms from ₫350,000 ($14).

Jade Hotel: Clean budget guesthouse in the Pham Ngu Lao area. Good value private rooms with air-con. ₫300,000–600,000 ($12–24).

Alan Residence: Compact but clean budget option on the south bank. ₫250,000–500,000 ($10–20).

What to look for in Hue accommodation

Free bicycle rental: Many Hue hotels offer this. The city is bicycle-friendly and free bikes save ₫50,000–100,000 ($2–4) per day.

River view rooms: Worth paying extra at mid-range and above. La Residence and Moonlight both have excellent river-facing rooms.

Breakfast quality: Hue street food at the market is often better than hotel breakfast. Mid-range hotels where breakfast is optional (rather than compulsory with no street food equivalent) are better value.
