Hotel de la Coupole - MGallery: A French-era colonial revival hotel in the centre of Sapa town. The most atmospheric of the luxury options — the design references Sapa’s history as a French hill station. Indoor pool, multiple restaurants, reliable service. ₫2,500,000–7,000,000 ($100–280).

Topas Ecolodge: 18 stone bungalows on a ridge 18km from Sapa town, surrounded by the Hoang Lien mountain range. Solar-powered, with spectacular views. This is for those who want the mountain experience without the Sapa town bustle. The remoteness is the product. ₫2,000,000–5,000,000 ($80–200), includes breakfast. Book far in advance.

Mid-range (₫700,000–2,500,000 / $28–100)

Amazing Sapa Hotel: A reliable mid-range option in the central Sapa area with valley views from the upper floors. Consistent positive reviews for cleanliness and breakfast quality. ₫800,000–1,800,000 ($32–72).

Sapa O’Chau: Run by a Black Hmong woman who grew up near the terraces. A hotel and social enterprise that trains local ethnic minority youth in hospitality. The rooms are good, the mission is worthwhile, and the staff genuinely know the local area. ₫700,000–1,500,000 ($28–60).

Sapa Windy View: As the name suggests, the upper floor rooms have good valley views. Mid-range hotel with acceptable service and well-maintained rooms. Better value than many options at this price point. ₫600,000–1,200,000 ($24–48).

Sapa Green Valley Homestay: One of the better budget options combining guesthouse facilities with a more personal feel. Close to the cable car. ₫300,000–600,000 ($12–24).

Pinocchio Hotel Sapa: Budget guesthouse in the town centre with clean rooms and functional facilities. The staff speak enough English to help with basic logistics. ₫250,000–500,000 ($10–20).

What to prioritise when booking

Valley view rooms: Worth paying the premium if offered. A room facing the Muong Hoa Valley on a clear morning is the Sapa experience. Ask specifically for valley-facing rooms; not all hotels confirm this at booking.

Heating: Essential for November–March. Confirm that room heating works before paying. Some budget properties have heating on paper that doesn’t function.

Cloud forecast: Sapa is in cloud more often than it’s clear. The best views require specific conditions that can’t be guaranteed. Don’t make a booking decision based entirely on the view potential.
