Where to Stay in Phu Quoc 2026: Best Areas and Accommodation Guide

Luxury resort, Phu Quoc

Phu Quoc’s accommodation zones offer genuinely different experiences. The west coast Long Beach strip is the most developed, with the widest range of options. The quieter stretches of coast to the north and south have smaller-scale resorts and more peaceful beaches. Duong Dong town in the centre is the practical base for budget travellers. Understanding these zones is essential for choosing the right area.

Long Beach (Bai Truong) — main resort corridor

The 20 km west coast beach is where the majority of hotels, guesthouses, and resorts are concentrated. The strip divides into sections:

Long Beach North (near Duong Dong): The densest hotel zone with budget guesthouses, mid-range hotels, and entry-level resorts. Walking distance to the Duong Dong Night Market, restaurants, and convenience stores. The best area for independent travellers who want beach access plus evening options without driving.

Hotels in this zone: La Veranda Resort MGallery (from ₫4,500,000 / $180 as of 2026), Novotel Phu Quoc (from ₫2,000,000 / $80), Kim Hoa Resort (from ₫500,000 / $20), Lan Anh Garden Resort (from ₫400,000 / $16), budget guesthouses (from ₫200,000 / $8).

Long Beach Central and South: The larger luxury properties — JW Marriott, Fusion Resort, Salinda — are set back from the beach in this section. More resort-oriented with less independent restaurant and bar access. You will eat at the resort restaurants or need transport to reach Duong Dong.

Hotels in this zone: JW Marriott Phu Quoc (from ₫6,000,000 / $240), Fusion Resort (from ₫5,000,000 / $200), Salinda Resort (from ₫4,000,000 / $160).

Trade-offs: Long Beach is the most convenient option but also the most developed. Some sections of the strip have ongoing construction, and the beach quality varies — the northern and central sections are better maintained than the southern end. The sunset views over the Gulf of Thailand from the west-facing beach are excellent.

Ong Lang Beach (15 km north of Duong Dong)

A quieter stretch of west coast beach with smaller, boutique-scale resorts and bungalow operations. Ong Lang has noticeably less development than Long Beach — the atmosphere is calmer, the beach is less crowded, and the resorts are generally lower-rise with garden settings.

Best for: Couples, honeymooners, longer stays, and travellers who want a resort experience with less commercial density. The beach is good for swimming with calm, clear water.

Hotels in this zone: Mango Bay Resort (from ₫1,500,000 / $60 as of 2026), Phu Quoc Night Owl Bungalows (from ₫800,000 / $32), Chen Sea Resort (from ₫1,500,000 / $60).

Trade-offs: Fewer restaurants and bars outside the resort. Evening dining options are limited to the resort restaurant or a 15-minute motorbike ride to Duong Dong. The distance from the night market and town amenities is the main downside.

Sao Beach area (south coast)

The southern coast around Sao Beach (Bai Sao) — widely considered the most beautiful beach on the island — has several luxury resorts. The area is less developed than Long Beach, with a quieter, more exclusive atmosphere.

Best for: Luxury resort stays where the resort itself is the destination, and travellers who prioritise the best beach on the island.

Hotels in this zone: Several luxury resorts from ₫3,000,000–10,000,000 ($120–400) as of 2026.

Trade-offs: Distance from Duong Dong town (25 km by road) means you are reliant on the resort for dining and activities, or you need motorbike rental or paid transfers for any evening activity. The isolation is the point for some travellers and the drawback for others.

Duong Dong town (budget and practical base)

The main town of Phu Quoc has budget guesthouses, mid-range hotels, the night market, local restaurants, and practical services. The town beach is not the main swimming beach, but the location is central for motorbike exploration of the entire island.

Best for: Budget travellers, independent island explorers, food-focused travellers who want access to the night market and local restaurants, and travellers using Phu Quoc as a transit point.

Hotels in this zone: Multiple family-run guesthouses from ₫200,000–500,000 ($8–20) as of 2026, plus mid-range hotels from ₫500,000–1,200,000 ($20–48).

Night market access: The Duong Dong Night Market is the evening highlight of the island. Grilled seafood (scallops, prawns, squid, and sea urchin), noodle soups, and local specialties at ₫30,000–100,000 ($1.20–4) per dish. Operating from approximately 17:00–22:00 nightly.

North coast (Ganh Dau, Cua Can)

The northern tip of the island near Ganh Dau has a handful of eco-lodges and boutique properties. Relatively undeveloped, with a different character from the resort south. The Vinpearl Safari complex and Vinpearl amusement parks are in the north — this area suits families visiting those attractions.

Best for: Nature-focused travellers, families visiting Vinpearl attractions, and those who want to explore the less-developed parts of the island.

Hotels in this zone: Eco-lodges and boutique properties from ₫600,000–2,000,000 ($24–80) as of 2026.

Practical notes

Seasonal pricing: Phu Quoc accommodation prices vary dramatically by season. High season (December–February) can be 2–3 times the low season rate for the same room. Book well in advance for Christmas, New Year, and Vietnamese Tet. Low season (June–October) offers discounts of 30–50% but beach conditions on the west coast are poorer due to rougher seas and occasional rain.

Motorbike rental: Essential regardless of where you stay. The island’s attractions are spread across 50+ km. Rentals cost ₫100,000–150,000 ($4–6) per day from most hotels and guesthouses. The main road running north-south is good quality. Side roads to beaches vary — some are unpaved.

Airport location: Phu Quoc International Airport is centrally located, 5 km from Long Beach and 10 km from Duong Dong town. Most resorts offer free airport transfers. Grab from the airport costs approximately ₫100,000–200,000 ($4–8).

Visa-free entry: Phu Quoc has a separate visa-free policy for visitors staying on the island for up to 30 days — this applies regardless of nationality. If you are entering Vietnam solely for Phu Quoc without visiting the mainland, no visa is required.
