Lang Co sits on the main Hue–Da Nang transit corridor. The town is easy to reach by train, bus, or motorbike, and is a natural overnight stop for travellers moving between the two cities.

By train

Lang Co has a small railway station on the Reunification Express North-South line. Trains from Hue take approximately 1 hour; trains from Da Nang take 30–40 minutes. The train route crosses the Hai Van Pass and provides spectacular views of the coast from the clifftop rail line.

Ticket: ₫30,000–80,000 ($1.20–3.20) for the short segment. Soft seat. Book at the Hue or Da Nang station or through the Vietnam Railways website.

The train approach to Lang Co — descending from the pass tunnel with the lagoon and peninsula visible below — is a memorable arrival.

By bus

Buses on the Hue–Da Nang route (2.5–3 hours total) pass through Lang Co or stop at the junction 2km from the town. Ask to be let off at Lang Co. Fare: ₫50,000–100,000 ($2–4).

Open-tour buses (tourist buses) can drop at Lang Co on request if you have a ticket to Da Nang.

By motorbike (Hai Van Pass route)

The best way to arrive. The old pass road from Hue (50km, 1.5 hours with stops) or from Da Nang (40km, 1 hour) deposits you in Lang Co after one of Vietnam’s best drives.

Motorbike hire from Hue: ₫150,000–200,000 ($6–8) per day. The road is paved throughout.

Important: Take the old pass road — not the modern tunnel. The tunnel delivers you to Lang Co quickly but misses the entire point of the route.

From Hoi An

Hoi An is 60km south. By taxi or hired car: ₫300,000–500,000 ($12–20) one-way. By motorbike: 1.5 hours via Da Nang and then north. Most travellers doing the Hue–Hoi An route connect through Da Nang rather than stopping at Lang Co separately.

Getting around in Lang Co

The peninsula is 10km long. Walking to the beach from the guesthouse area is fine. Motorbike hire in the town for visiting Bach Ma National Park or the pass: ₫150,000–200,000 ($6–8) per day.

From Hanoi

No direct bus or train from Hanoi to Lang Co. Travel from Hanoi to Hue first (Reunification Express train takes approximately 13–14 hours overnight, or fly to Hue in 1 hour). From Hue, continue to Lang Co by the options above.

From the south (Hoi An, Da Nang)

From Hoi An: 60km. By motorbike: 1.5 hours via Da Nang. By car: approximately ₫300,000–500,000 ($12–20) one way as of 2026.

From Da Nang: 40km. The most scenic approach is the old Hai Van Pass road (not the tunnel). Allow 1–1.5 hours with photo stops. By train from Da Nang station: 30–40 minutes.

Practical notes

Hai Van Pass weather: The pass can be foggy and visibility-limited, particularly in the afternoon and during winter months (November–February). Morning crossings tend to have better visibility. Carry a rain jacket.

Combining Hue and Hoi An: Lang Co is the natural overnight stop on the coastal route between these two cities. The standard routing is Hue → Lang Co (1 night) → Hai Van Pass → Da Nang/Hoi An, or the reverse. This avoids the tunnel and makes the Hai Van Pass road the highlight of the journey.

Luggage: If travelling by train with a backpack, Lang Co station is small and straightforward. For travellers with large luggage, a hired car or bus is more practical than the motorbike pass option.
