Lang Co’s beach is one of the less-visited sections of the central Vietnam coast — a 10km strip of sand on the ocean side of the peninsula. It is consistently less crowded than Da Nang or Hoi An’s An Bang, and the setting with the Hai Van mountain behind is scenic.

The beach

The beach runs the full length of the Lang Co peninsula from north to south. The northern section near the town has some resort development (Lang Co Beach Resort, smaller hotels). Walking south, the beach becomes progressively quieter and less developed.

Sand quality: Clean, medium-grained sand. No significant litter problem in the less-developed sections.

Water quality: Good. Lang Co is away from port and industrial facilities. The water is clear.

Swimming: Safe and good April–October. Outside this window, the central Vietnam coast receives swells from the northeast monsoon and swimming is not recommended.

Comparing to Da Nang beaches

Lang Co’s beach is quieter and less developed than My Khe or Non Nuoc in Da Nang. The trade-off is fewer facilities (no beach bars, fewer sunbed operations in the southern section). For travellers who want an uncrowded beach experience with the Hai Van Pass scenery as backdrop, Lang Co is excellent.

The lagoon beach (western side)

The lagoon side of the peninsula is mangrove-fringed and not suitable for swimming — it’s an active aquaculture area. The visual appeal of the lagoon is from the road, looking west toward the mountains.

Best section to swim

The middle section of the beach (1–3km south from the main town) has the best combination of access and space. Away from the resort hotel zones but not so far as to be inconvenient.

Facilities

Limited compared to the Da Nang beaches. The town-side beach section has a few simple seafood restaurants and guesthouses with beach access. Beyond the town area, facilities are minimal — bring water and snacks for longer beach walks.

Beach activities

Kayaking: Some guesthouses and the Lang Co Beach Resort offer kayak rental for lagoon paddling. The lagoon is calmer than the ocean side and suitable for beginners. Approximately ₫100,000–200,000 ($4–8) per hour as of 2026.

Beach walking: The 10km peninsula beach is flat and walkable. The southern sections are the quietest. A full walk from north to south takes approximately 2 hours at a relaxed pace.

Photography: The combination of the Hai Van mountain backdrop, the lagoon, and the wide beach creates strong landscape photography opportunities. The best light is at sunrise (ocean side) and sunset (lagoon side with mountain silhouette).

Accommodation on the beach

Lang Co Beach Resort: The main beachfront resort with direct beach access, pool, and standard resort facilities. ₫1,000,000–2,500,000 ($40–100) per night as of 2026.

Guesthouses near the beach: Several properties within 100m of the beach on the town side. Private rooms from ₫250,000–500,000 ($10–20) as of 2026. Basic but functional for a beach-focused stay.

Practical notes

Jellyfish: Occasional jellyfish in the warmer months. Check with locals or guesthouse staff about current conditions before swimming.

Shade: The beach has limited natural shade. Bring sun protection for extended beach sessions. The resort section has sunbed and umbrella rental.

Water quality monitoring: Lang Co is away from port and industrial activity — the water is consistently cleaner than the Da Nang city beaches. The beach has no significant pollution issues.
