Mui Ne’s restaurant scene is oriented around the resort strip. The local food options require getting off the main road.

Banh Mi Phan Thiet

The provincial capital Phan Thiet (5km west) is associated with its own version of banh mi — a stuffed rice flour pancake filled with eggs, spring onion, and pork, cooked on a flat griddle rather than the standard baguette sandwich. Confusingly called “banh mi” locally, it is fundamentally different from the standard Vietnamese banh mi.

Seafood restaurants

Several seafood restaurants on the strip serve fresh catch from the Mui Ne fishing village. Whole fish, fresh prawns, and squid at mid-range prices.

Phan Thiet fish sauce

Phan Thiet is one of Vietnam’s main fish sauce production centres (nuoc mam Phan Thiet). The local fish sauce is considered high quality. Sold at markets and shops throughout the area.

International strip restaurants

The resort strip has a concentration of international-oriented restaurants — pizza, pasta, burgers, Indian food, and Western breakfasts serving the expat kite community and Russian tourists. Quality is variable. Prices are moderate.

D’or Restaurant: Reliable mid-range international and Vietnamese menu. Good breakfast for kiters. ₫80,000–180,000 ($3.20–7.20) per main.

Night food market (Phan Thiet)

If you have transport to Phan Thiet town (5km), the evening market near the Phan Thiet waterfront has good street food — bun cha ca (fish cake noodle soup), banh can, and various grilled foods. ₫20,000–50,000 ($0.80–2) per dish.
