Can Tho accommodation is concentrated near the Ninh Kieu waterfront in the city centre. Proximity to the boat pier is the key factor — the floating market tour departs very early and walking distance to the pier is worthwhile.

Ninh Kieu riverside area (best location)

The streets immediately adjacent to the Ninh Kieu waterfront have the highest concentration of tourist-oriented hotels. The boat pier for floating market tours is here. Walking distance to the main restaurants, the city market, and the evening riverside activity.

Mid-range options: ₫400,000–1,200,000 ($16–48) for comfortable riverside hotels with Mekong views.

Budget options: ₫200,000–400,000 ($8–16) for guesthouses 2–3 blocks from the waterfront.

Away from the riverside

The city centre streets behind the waterfront are slightly cheaper but within easy walking or cycling distance of everything. Good for budget travellers who don’t need the river view.

Practical notes

Floating market booking: All accommodation in Can Tho near the waterfront can book the boat for the Cai Rang market trip. Do this the evening before — the boat needs to be pre-arranged, not hailed on the day.

Insect screens: The delta is mosquito-active at night. Check accommodation has effective window screens or air-conditioning that allows windows to stay closed.

Noise: The Ninh Kieu waterfront is active in the evening with locals and restaurants. Accommodation directly on the waterfront can be noisy at night. One street back is significantly quieter.
