Vietnam Airlines will operate its first nonstop service between Ahmedabad (AMD) and Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) from 3 November 2026. The route becomes Vietnam’s seventh direct air link to India, extending the carrier’s Indian network to five cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and now Ahmedabad.
Schedule and aircraft
The service will run four times weekly - Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays - operated by Airbus A321 aircraft. Outbound flights from Hanoi depart at 17:35 and land in Ahmedabad at 21:30 local time. The return leg departs Ahmedabad at 22:45 and arrives back in Hanoi at 04:35 the following morning. Flight time in both directions is approximately four hours.
Ahmedabad is India’s fifth-largest city by population and the commercial centre of Gujarat state. Direct access removes the need to transit through Delhi, Mumbai, or a Gulf hub for travellers in western India - a change that cuts typical journey time from eight or more hours to four.
What this means for Indian visitors to Vietnam
Indian passport holders require a visa to enter Vietnam. The most convenient option is the Vietnam e-visa, which costs USD 25 for single entry or USD 50 for multiple entry and is typically processed in three to five working days. There is no visa-on-arrival option for Indian nationals, so applying in advance through the official Vietnamese immigration portal is essential.
For those entering Hanoi on the new route, Noi Bai airport transfers run to the city centre in approximately 30 to 45 minutes by shuttle bus, taxi, or private car. The airport sits 30 km north of the Old Quarter.
India–Vietnam air connectivity in 2026
The launch follows a busy year of India–Vietnam route openings. Air India launched Hanoi–Delhi nonstop service in May 2026 and Vietnam Airlines expanded its Delhi and Mumbai frequencies in June. The Ahmedabad addition reflects growing demand from Indian leisure travellers and a Vietnamese tourism authority push to grow the Indian market, which sent approximately 350,000 visitors to Vietnam in 2025.
