Vietnam Airlines Launches First-Ever Direct Hanoi–Amsterdam Service on June 16
Vietnam Airlines will begin operating a nonstop service between Hanoi and Amsterdam on June 16, 2026 — the first direct flight ever to connect Vietnam with the Netherlands.
The route will run three times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays) from Noi Bai International Airport to Amsterdam Schiphol, operated on Airbus A350 wide-body aircraft. The nonstop flight eliminates the layover currently required on one-stop itineraries via European or Middle Eastern hubs, making the journey significantly more convenient for travellers on both ends.
What This Means for Travellers
For visitors arriving from the Netherlands or connecting through Schiphol, this route creates one of the most convenient entry points into northern Vietnam. Hanoi sits within day-trip distance of Ha Long Bay, Ninh Binh, and Sapa, and makes an excellent base for exploring the north.
The route launches mid-June. If you are planning your dates around it, our Vietnam in June guide covers what to expect across the country — the north is warm with increasing rainfall by mid-month, while central and southern beaches remain at their best.
Vietnam Airlines’ European Network
With Amsterdam confirmed, Vietnam Airlines will serve 12 direct routes to eight European cities: Paris, Frankfurt, London, Munich, Milan, Copenhagen, Moscow, and Amsterdam. Tickets are already on sale through Vietnam Airlines and authorised agents.
Background
Demand for travel between Vietnam and the Netherlands has grown sharply. Over 122,000 passengers flew the route in 2024, with year-on-year growth exceeding 40% through 2025. The approximately 27,000 Vietnamese residents living in the Netherlands provide a strong base of demand beyond tourist travel alone.
