Where to Stay in Haiphong 2026: Hotels Near the Ferry and City Centre

· 2 min read City Guide
Haiphong, northern Vietnam

Most Haiphong visitors are transiting to or from Cat Ba Island and need accommodation for one night at most. The city centre near the Opera House and the area around Ben Binh ferry terminal are the practical options.

City centre (near Opera House and colonial quarter)

The most comfortable base for anyone spending more than one night. Within walking distance of the French colonial streets, the main restaurants, and the city’s atmosphere. Taxis and xe om provide easy access to Ben Binh ferry pier (10–15 minutes).

Hotels in this area range from budget guesthouses (₫250,000–500,000 / $10–20) to business hotels (₫600,000–1,500,000 / $24–60). The mid-range options near Dien Bien Phu Street offer the best value.

Near Ben Binh ferry terminal

For travellers arriving late or taking an early ferry, the accommodation within 10-minute walking distance of Ben Binh pier is practical. Options are mainly budget guesthouses and small hotels — plainer than the city centre options but convenient for ferry logistics.

Prices: ₫200,000–500,000 ($8–20) per night.

Specific properties

Monaco Hotel: Mid-range hotel in the city centre area with clean rooms, air-con, and reasonable wifi. ₫500,000–900,000 ($20–36).

Vision Hotel: Well-located near the city’s commercial area. Good value mid-range with breakfast included in most rates. ₫600,000–1,200,000 ($24–48).

Budget guesthouses on Minh Khai Street: A cluster of basic guesthouses near the central market. Private rooms with fan or air-con: ₫200,000–400,000 ($8–16).

Honest assessment for transit travellers

If you’re arriving from Hanoi to take a morning ferry to Cat Ba the next day: stay near Ben Binh pier. The area is not scenic but the proximity to the ferry eliminates stress.

If you have a genuine interest in Haiphong’s colonial quarter and food scene: stay near the Opera House area. The city centre is more pleasant and the restaurants are better.

If you’re arriving from Cat Ba in the evening to catch a bus or train to Hanoi the next morning: a budget guesthouse anywhere near the central bus station or city centre works fine.
