Where to Stay in Con Dao 2026: Six Senses, Boutique Hotels and Budget

· Updated · 3 min read City Guide
Beach at Con Dao island

Con Dao has a small but well-defined accommodation range. The island’s remote position keeps supply limited — there are no budget hostel chains, no large international hotels except Six Senses, and a handful of boutique operations between the two extremes.

Con Son town (main town area)

The town sits on the south coast of the main island. Most guesthouses and mid-range hotels are within the town or along the beachfront road. Walking access to the prison museum, restaurants, the pier, and the national park office. The most practical base for travellers who plan to move around and use the island for both history and nature.

Six Senses Con Dao

The only luxury resort on the island. Located on Dat Doc Beach, 3km from Con Son town. Private beach, overwater bungalows (the only overwater bungalows in Vietnam at a major resort), spa, and multiple restaurants. The property integrates the landscape well and runs with a serious sustainability programme.

Price: ₫10,000,000–40,000,000+ ($400–1,600+) per night. This is the resort that puts Con Dao on the international luxury travel map.

Mid-range boutique hotels

Con Dao Resort: On the waterfront near the centre of town. Colonial-style building with sea views. ₫2,000,000–5,000,000 ($80–200).

ATC Hotel Con Dao: Good value mid-range in town. Clean, reliable, with helpful staff for arranging tours. ₫800,000–1,800,000 ($32–72).

Poulo Condore Boutique Hotel: Smaller property with careful design, colonial-influenced architecture. ₫1,200,000–2,500,000 ($48–100).

Budget guesthouses

Several family-run guesthouses operate in the town. Simple rooms, often with a/c, at ₫300,000–600,000 ($12–24). Not luxury, but clean and functional. The town is small enough that location matters less than on a larger island — everything is within 10 minutes by motorbike.

Booking considerations

Con Dao has limited total accommodation capacity. In peak season (July–September for turtle watching, and January–April for diving) and on Vietnamese public holidays, even the budget options fill up. Book in advance. The island has no overflow option — if the accommodation is full, you cannot stay.

Most accommodation can arrange airport transfers, diving packages, turtle tour bookings, and motorbike rental.

What to look for in Con Dao accommodation

Motorbike rental access: Essential for reaching beaches and the national park. Most guesthouses arrange motorbike rental for approximately ₫100,000–150,000 ($4–6) per day as of 2026. The island is small enough (57 sq km) that everything is reachable in 30 minutes.

Dive operator connections: If diving is a priority, choose accommodation with a relationship to one of the island’s dive centres (Dive Dive Dive, Con Dao Dive Center). Pre-arranged packages can reduce costs compared to booking independently.

National park proximity: Con Son town is within walking distance of the prison museum and the national park office. All accommodation in the town is convenient for both.

Eating in Con Dao

The island has a limited restaurant scene compared to the mainland. Con Son town has several Vietnamese restaurants, a few seafood restaurants, and basic cafe options. A meal at a local restaurant costs approximately ₫60,000–150,000 ($2.40–6) per person as of 2026. Seafood is fresh but more expensive than the mainland due to the island’s supply chain. Six Senses has multiple restaurant concepts at resort pricing.

Cash and connectivity

Bring sufficient Vietnamese dong — the island has limited ATMs and card acceptance is inconsistent at budget guesthouses. 4G coverage from Viettel reaches most of the main island. Wifi at guesthouses is variable in quality.
